Head of young Heracles right in lion skin headdress / LLEXANDR[OU], Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle on extended right hand and scepter in left, circled bee in left field. Unpublished. A bit weakly struck and with horn silver adhering at obverse edge between 3:00 and 6:00. Nearly extremely fine It is tempting to describe this as a barbarous imitation of Ephesus, but Price lists no Ephesian drachm variety with a circled bee that could have served as a prototype. Several features of the reverse associate this piece with the four preceding lots (84-88), but the obverse style is less accomplished.
