                              Unlike his father, Ptolemy II held the Jews in 
                              some regard. He repatriated Jews who had been 
                              exiled to Egypt, and most importantly for future 
                              scholars, requested copies of Jewish texts for the 
                              Library at Alexandria, where they were translated 
                              as the Septuagint- the Old Testament transcribed 
                              by seventy Jewish scholars hired for the purpose.
