IONIA. Ephesus. Ca. 133–88 BC. Gold stater (8.55 gm). Draped bust of 
Artemis right, wearing stephane, quiver over shoulder / E—Ö flanking 
polymastic cult statue of Artemis of Ephesus, wearing polos, wreath 
surrounding head, arms spread and filleted, to left of feet small 
stag standing right. NFA X, 17–18 September 1981, lot 173 (probably 
same obverse die). Kastner 4 (1973), lot 109. Rare. Worn obverse 
die. About extremely fine.

Ephesus staters tend to be very scarce and poorly struck.
