EUBOIA, Euboean League. Circa 411/410 BC. AR Didrachm (12.10 g). Heifer lying left, head turned right EYB, head of the nymph Euboia right. Wallace 4 (same dies); McClean 5704 (same dies); SNG Lockett 1777 (same obverse die); Pozzi 1495 (ditto). Rare. ($5000) Wallace ascribes the Euboean League issues to the mint of Eretria but recently Picard has argued that Chalkis and not Eretria was the mint of the League, and that the date should be about 371-357.
