                              PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. Ptolemy V Epiphanes. 
                              205-180 BC. AR Tetradrachm (14.06 gm, 12h). Kyrene 
                              mint? Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, wearing 
                              aegis / Eagle standing left on winged thunderbolt; 
                              monogram to right. Svoronos 1259 = BMC Ptolemies 
                              55; SNG Copenhagen -. Good VF, lightly toned. 
                              Extremely rare, only one published example. ($500)

                              BMC attributed this coin to an uncertain 
                              Phoenician mint, but the monogram is similar to 
                              the monogram on coins from Kyrene (Cf. BMC 
                              Cyrenaica p. 50, 226).
