Zervos SNS MN 13, issue XV. Good VF, a few light scratches on fields. The artist known only by his initial D served Ptolemy I and II and produced coins with a distinctive and attractive style. Hazard notes, "No subsequent craftsman at the Alexandrian mint ever showed the same mastery of design and detail as Delta and in the opinion of this writer, he was the greatest engraver of the Hellenistic Age." This particular coin is of the heavier Attic weight, and is an earlier and rarer piece than the more common issues of the reduced Phoenician or Ptolemaic weight standard.
