                                under Ptolemy VI-VIII, circa 180-116 BC. Sold 
                                For $6750 

                              PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. Arsinöe II, wife of 
                              Ptolemy II. Died 270 BC. AV Oktadrachm (28mm, 
                              27.83 gm, 12h). Alexandria mint. Struck under 
                              Ptolemy VI-VIII, circa 180-116 BC. Head right, 
                              wearing a diademed stephane and veil, lotus-tipped 
                              sceptre over far shoulder; K behind / ARSINOHS 
                              FILADELFOU, double cornuacopiae bound with fillet. 
                              Svoronos 1498; SNG Copenhagen 322. VF, a few minor 
                              scrapes and nicks.
                              The commemorative coinage of Arsinoe II 
                              experienced a resurgence at the Cypriote mints 
                              under Ptolemy V. This revival was continued by his 
                              successors, who supplemented the Cypriote issues 
                              with a large gold coinage, consisting of 
                              oktadrachms, tetradrachms, and didrachms, from 
                              Alexandria.
