Civic Coinage of Kaunus, Caria. AE16, 200-100 BC.

Obv: Youthful head of Dionysos right, wreathed with ivy.
Rev: K-AY above, MN-H across fields, naked male figure standing right, his right hand outstretched (holding patera or bird) and with his left hand holding transverse sceptre, the lower end of which is serpent-entwined.

Imhoof writes: The figure on the reverse possibly represents 
the Heros Eponymos the city of Kaunos. The figure appears in 
similar form as Heros on coins of the Opuntii, also with the 
serpent as symbol of autonomy.
