Taras (Tarentum), Calabria, ca. 334-330 BC, AR nomos (7.80 g). Obv.: Naked
horseman mtd. r., holding shield, two lances and a spear; SA below / Rev.:
Taras std. on dolphin l., holding distaff; prow below. Vlasto 585; SNG ANS
985; bold VF condition, good metal, but a sl. irregular flan; ex-CNG, with
tag. A desirable and valuable instance of this common issue; another
specimen, apptly. same dies, rounder flan, but in sim. cond., realized $650
+ 10% (CNG 53.36).
