Circa 440-425 BC. AR Nomos (7.48 gm). Head of the nymph Terina left, encircled by an olive wreath / [TERINAIWN], Nike seated left on hydria, [holding wreath in right hand], caduceus in left. Jenkins/Holloway pg. 48, 14 (same obverse die); SNG ANS 802 (same dies). Fine, toned, minor corrosion, ethnic reingraved. Estimate $200. The reverse has the unusual appearance of being an unpublished and stylistically aberant type. The wreath has been effaced and the ethnic re-engraved by some early collector, to correct the fault of an off-center strike. However, the obverse retains its original superior engraving.
