  255-235 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.46 gm). Diademed head of Diodotos I right / BASILEWS
  ANTIOCOU, nude Zeus advancing left, brandishing thunderbolt, aegis on outstretched
  arm; eagle and wreath before. Holt A8; Bopearachchi Série 2B; SNG ANS 76. Toned VF,
  light porosity. Rare. Estimate $500.



  Holt believes the wreath to be commemorative of a military victory, not just a
  control mark. Literary evidence reveals one possibility - in the 240's or early 230's
  Diodotos drove the forces of Arsakes, the future founder of the Arsakid dynasty of
  Parthia, out of Baktrian territory.
