                        GRAECO-BACTRIAN KINGS. Diodotus I, as satrap (ca. 
                        255-235 BC). Gold stater (8.38 gm). First Diodotid mint, 
                        in eastern Bactria (Holt's "Mint A"). Diademed head of 
                        Diodotus I right / BASILEWS ANTIOCOU, Zeus, viewed from 
                        behind, striding left, nude except for aegis over left 
                        arm, brandishing thunderbolt in raised right hand, in 
                        inner left field PN monogram above eagle standing left. 
                        SC 629.1 variant (control is N). Cf. Holt, Thundering 
                        Zeus, Series A, Group 7 (tetradrachm with N). An 
                        exceptional specimen with a marvelous portrait. Nearly 
                        mint state
