King Armah (in Ge'ez), crowned and draped bust right, holding cross; gilding on crown / Mercy and Peace (in Ge'ez), church facade with cross above and "keyhole" below; cross and "keyhole" inlaid with gold. Munro-Hay 151; BMC Aksum 566. VF, toned, ragged edge. Rare late gilt silver issue of Axum. The reverse type has been identifed as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. A colony of Ethiopian Coptic monks has existed in the Holy Sepulchre church since the early midle ages. Their compound is on the roof, the only space alloted to them.
