[Image] Description: We are indeed proud to offer this extremely rare electrum Milesian Hemi-Hekte - Twelfth Stater for your consideration. This coin dates to 650-600 BC and is certainly among the earliest known monies featuring an obverse and reverse design. This exceptional coin represents some of the first attempts by the emerging Greek civilization at creating a true coinage of their own. Of particular interest is the fact that no previous examples of this Milesian electrum denomination have been known to exist prior to the discovery of these coins. Here is an exceptional opportunity to add this exceedingly rare and unpublished coin to your collection. We conservatively grade this coin as about Extremely Fine. It weighs 1.12 grams and still maintains a high degree of its original luster. We've placed a very reasonable reserve for a coin of this historic importance that only recently has been discovered. Don't let this extraordinarily rare example get away from you. Obverse: Geometric design consisting of an irregular square bisected by crossing lines. Reverse: Incuse square with center pellet bisected by two lines and further divided by four radiate lines forming 8 triangular segments. Size: 8 mm ( nearly 3/8" ) Weight: 1.12 grams Reference: Unpublished variety * THE DANGERS OF LAST MINUTE BIDDING : Almost without fail after an auction has closed we receive emails from bidders who claim they were attempting to place a bid and were unable to get into eBay. There is nothing we can do to help bidders who were "locked out" while trying to place a "last minute" bid. All we can do in this regard is to urge you to place your bids early. If you're serious in your intent to become a winning bidder please avoid eBay's high traffic during the close of an auction. Its certainly your choice how you handle your bidding, but we'd rather see you a winner instead of being left out during the last minute scramble. * AUTHENTICITY : We are a member of the American Numismatic Association. The winning bidder(s) must pay the seller directly for the item(s), and it is the seller's responsibility to fulfill the order when payment terms are met.
