Myrina, Aeolis. AR Tetradrachm. MODERN FORGERY.
Copying an issue from ca 155–145 BC.

Obv: Laureate head of Apollo right, hair in three braids, Rev: MYRINAIWN downwards to left of Apollo of Gryneium, 
laureate and with long, draped loins, standing right, 
holding patera and filleted branch, omphalos and amphora at 
foot right, DYoI monogram in left field, all within laurel 
wreath.

Same dies as Kinns, 4 in "Myrina and Related Forgeries", ANS 
Museum Notes vol. 30, in which he writes: "... No. 4 is the 
most recent and dangerous of the known forgeries of Myrina, 
and comes from a Beirut workshop. Both the obverse and 
reverse are excellent copies of genuine dies, the model 
being a tetradrachm from Sacks series 24; Apollo's eye and 
expression are not quite correct, but more obvious defects 
are seen in the treatment of the hair on the crown and the 
floating upper end of the diadem. Fortunately the falsity of 
these dies is confirmed by the use of the same obverse die 
with a reverse of Alexandria Troas, for such a hybrid (no. 5 
below) can hardly be ancient." 
In addition: 
- the head of Apollo on the reverse is tilted forwards, when 
it should be absolutely vertical
- the laurel wreath seems have acorns growing on it.
- the curls at the front of Apollo's head on the obverse are not properly curled.
- The curve at the end of the wreath band is incorrect.
