Guidelines for submitting coins to the WildWinds Database
Make sure you have the right to submit the picture and information. This may be a coin of your own, or you have obtained permission to re-use the image and information.
Image:
Please make the image if possible on a plain background (if possible not bright red, wood, shocking pink, lime green or checkered tablecloths...)
Both sides of the coin in a single image, obverse (on the left) and reverse (on the right) side by side, Format: jpg, max. width 800 pixels.
Save the image as a .jpg with a name which includes e.g. the emperor's name and RIC (or other reference) number for Roman coins (e.g. constans_trier_ric_1234.jpg) or the names of the region and city and reference for Greek coins (e.g. thrace_dium_moushmov_1234.jpg)
Information:
Include all the legends, coin size in mm, and any reference you may have.
Include your name. If you have a coin website, please feel free to include the URL to your website.
Save this information as a plain text file (.txt) using the same basic name as the coin image file above (e.g. constans_trier_ric_1234.txt). Include how and where the coin was obtained or found. If you bought the coin at an auction, please include the auction name, number and lot number.
Submitting it:
1. You can either email the attachment(s) to Dane, or
2. Ask Dane for the password and access information for our upload page.
Please allow us enough time to sort, index, correct, format, upload etc. your files.
