Submitting Coins for ID-Assistance or Addition to Wildwinds
Submitting Coins for ID-Assistance
If you would like me to spend my time assisting you with your coin, please take the time yourself to follow the guidelines:
- IMPORTANT: Both sides of the coins must be together on a single image: Obverse on the left, reverse on the right. Emails in which coin obv and rev images are sent separately will be deleted without comment. There will be no exceptions so please take the time to follow this rule if you want me to take the time to look at your coin(s).
- Try to get as close to the coin as you can. Use the "macro" function of your camera.
- Photos taken using mobile phones are usually very poor quality with lots of "empty" space around the actual coin. By the time I have zoomed in to the coin, it is very blurred = useless. Please crop away such empty space and make sure that the image is clear and sharp.
- If you can read any legends on your coin, please add them in Latin - transcribe Greek legends into Latin. Using Greek script becomes garbled because we all have different systems, keyboard codes, email clients, settings etc. So use F for Phi, W for omega, L for lambda, E for epsilon, G for Gamma etc.
- Please add the metal (AE, AR, AV etc) and diameter in mm or inches. Please do not size the coin as "the size of a dime" or "the size of 2 bhats" - I have no idea how big such coins are, just as you would probably be flustered if I said "it is the size of a 20 Rappen coin"..
- Images of max. 1000 Pixels wide are best - this way they are under 100 kb and will not give any problems when I download them.
- From photos I cannot tell you whether a coin is fake or not. For that you need to ask on e.g. Forum Ancient Coins.
- One coin per email.
- I do not evaluate (the value of) coins.

Submitting Coins for addition to wildwinds
- As above, with the addition of
- I do not add every officina of every coin.
- I do not add barbaric copies but I DO add nice, genuine Limes AE denarii.
- Tell me what name you would like the coin to be added under, i.e. Contributed by ........, ".
- I cannot add provincial coins immediately because they need twice the work of e.g. RIC coins. I put prepared provincials in a holding dock and then add them batchwise alphabetically according to the folder name every month or so, when the folders have become ungainly.
