CVN in rectangular box, beaded border / Celtic dog left, S-shaped tail raised, beaded ring above, beaded border. Hobbs 1858-61; Van Arsdell 1949; SCBC 301. Toned VF, well centered CVN. Very rare. ($300) Ex Cotswold Collection. Evans, Mack, and Van Arsdell say the obverse legend is CVNO, whereas CVN is the correct reading. Mack, Van Arsdell , Mossop, and the British Museum all describe the animal as a horse in error.
