EMPIRE OF NICAEA.Theodore II, Ducas-Lascaris. (1254-1258 AD). Aspron 
trachy (silvery electrum) (2.70 gm). Magnesia, Year A = 1254/5 AD. 
Christ, nimbate, standing facing, [I]C and XC to left and right, A 
in right field / Theodore standing facing on left, St. Demetrius 
standing facing on right, together holding patriarchal cross on 
globe between them; with their other hands the emperor holds a 
cross-tipped scepter, the saint a spear; in five lines across field 
the emperor’s name in Greek letters, “Theodore Lascaris, despot,” 
partially legible. DO 5. Sear 2137. About extremely fine.
