Phocas. AV Solidus. Jerusalem (Hieropolis) mint. AD 602-610. 4.42 g. DN FOCAS PERP AVG, crowned, draped and cuirassed bust facing, holding cross. VICTORIA AVGU IE, angel standing facing, holding long P- headed cross and cross on globe. Mintmark CONOB. SB 677 var (rev leg. ending); MIB 30 (Cyprus). With permission of Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles - Auction 53, Lot 2097, May 2009 The IE ending of the reverse legend cannot indicate an officina, an indiction, or a regnal year. If it is a mint mark then Hieropolis (= Jerusalem?) is possible, though the engraving style does not appear to be of that region.
