Philippicus. (711-713 AD). Gold quarter solidus (1.10 gm). 
Constantinople. D (retrograde) N FILEPIC[US…], (followed by VICTO 
from “flip strike”) facing bust, with short beard, wearing crown and 
loros, and holding globus cruciger in right hand and eagle-tipped 
scepter surmounted by cross in left (only top of eagle is evident) / 
VICTORIA [AVCU], cross potent on base, CONOB beneath. Unpublished. 

Excessively rare denomination, though a quarter solidus of another 
reign is also recorded. “Flip” struck: the letters VICTO from the 
reverse die also show on the right side of the obverse. Mint state.
