REv. REX SCOTORVM, long cross with a star in each angle. The coin is gray on a slightly small flan. Legends are virtually full, but many letters are partially cut off by the flan. The portrait shows detail in the crown, but little in the face. The is a tiny indentation near the ear and there is ghosting on the portrait from the cross on the reverse. Alexander's death left confusion concerning a monarch in Scotland, which allowed King Henry II of England to intervene, and some of the events during this period of confusion are depicted in the movie "Braveheart."
