Reverse: Cross of four crowned shields with sceptre between each shield. All James II 5 Guineas are rare in high grade. They were the largest gold coins of the era and produced in relatively small quantities - nevertheless they circulated widely during James's short three year reign and beyond. Most available specimens are worn, damaged or mounted. This virtually uncirculated specimen is indeed special. Conservatively graded at AU-58. NGC graded AU-58. Estimated Value $12,500-15,000.
