A beautifully balanced coin showing very little wear. Slight evidence of roller lines through the top of the king's hair and laurels, as made at the mint during manufacture. A nicely struck coin with few marks of any kind, evidence of die-rust in the fields (London was a very humid place at the time), pleasing medium gray toning with hues of golden green on reverse. Exceptionally fine for this first issue of the classic Charles II crown. Possibly ex Bridgewater House. NGC graded AU-50. Estimated Value $5,000-5,500. Provenance: The Cheshire Collection.
