A simply splendid example.

Caius born in 12 AD and succeeded Tiberius as emperor in 37 AD. He started as a well-loved and reasonable emperor, but after a fever nearly killed him, he apparently went insane, became quite depraved, and was assassinated in 41 AD. Caligula is actually a name that nobody would have called him to his face; it was a nickname meaning "Little Boots" that the legionaires gave him when he was a small boy in camp with his father Germanicus.
